A BIT ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Having designed several homes for these long-time clients, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them quite well. However, the goal for their mountain vacation home was not to replicate their primary residence, but to capture a completely different emotional rhythm. They wanted warmth, texture, and something far from the "mountain modern" architecture surrounding them. Instead, our inspiration centered on the feeling of a classic Old-World hunting lodge: layered, cozy, and incredibly inviting.
Because the original structure lacked architectural character, we introduced beams, wood sheathing, and new millwork details that grounded the home in a sense of place. A stone fireplace and sculptural branch chandelier anchor the main living area, where rich leathers, wool plaids, and jewel-tone velvets create a space that feels both refined and relaxed. In the kitchen, slate-blue cabinetry, custom pendants with mica shades, and leather-wrapped barstools balance sophistication with rustic charm. Throughout the home, traditional patterns and tactile materials echo the surrounding landscape while elevating the interiors beyond the expected.
In the private rooms, plaids, tailored upholstery, and layered bedding convey comfort and intimacy. Every room was designed to evoke a "warm hug" — spaces that feel personal, grounded, and unmistakably attuned to how the clients wanted this home to feel.
